李重重（b.1942），生於安徽屯溪，1947年隨父母遷臺。父親為知名水墨畫家李金玉。1965年畢業於政工幹部學校美術系（今國防大學復興崗校區政治作戰學院應用藝術學系），1967年與王愷、金開鑫、林順雄、劉德山、任適正、沈臨彬、陳文藏等人組成「奔雨畫會」，1968年又加入劉國松主導成立的「中國現代水墨畫學會」，為其中唯一女性成員。其創作風格力求創新突破，不拘泥傳統水墨，展現現代抽象水墨風格，在實驗中搜尋各種視覺的可能性，兼具現代人情感與時代精神。1994年受本館邀請舉辦個展並獲頒金質獎章。
Lee Chung-chung (b. 1942) was born in Tunxi, Anhui, and moved to Taiwan with her family in 1947. Her father, Lee Jin-yu, was a renowned ink painter. In 1965, she graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at the Political Warfare Cadres School (now the Department of Applied Arts, Political Warfare College, National Defense University). In 1967, Lee co-founded the Running in the Rain Art Society alongside Wang Kai, Jin Kai-xin, Lin Shun-shiung, Liu De-shan, Ren Shi-zheng, Shen Lin-bin, and Chen Wen-cang. The following year, she joined the Chinese Modern Ink Painting Society, led by Liu Kuo-sung, standing out as its sole female member. Driven by a pursuit of artistic innovation, Lee breaks away from traditional ink painting conventions to forge a distinct modern abstract style. Through formal experimentation, she continuously expands the visual boundaries of the medium, capturing contemporary sensibilities and the spirit of her time. In 1994, she was invited by the NMH to present a solo exhibition, during which she was awarded the museum’s Gold Medal.

Ancient Trees amid Dense Clouds is an ink and color on paper painting by Lee Chung-chung in 1990. Inspired by the natural world, the artist translates her observations into abstract expressionist forms. Heavy, luminous black masses—evoking sturdy ancient trees—stretch horizontally and diagonally across the composition. Splashes of mineral pigments such as azurite blue and malachite green layer over the dark ink base, creating misty, enigmatic cloudscapes. The organic intermingling of vibrant pigments and deep ink endows the painting with remarkable spatial depth and dynamic visual resonance.
